Description

Diagnosis

Phyllobates lugubris differs from Phyllobates vittatus by being smaller and presenting the narrower dorsolateral stripe. Phyllobates lugubris differs from Phyllobates aurotaenia by having a marbled belly. From P. bicolor and P. terribilis for being of smaller size and presenting the skin of the granular dorsum.

Size

Adult males have a snout-cloaca length of 21 mm and females of 24 mm.

Natural history

It is a diurnal species. Males sing from areas with slow water and vegetation. The male calls the female to perform the procession. The care of the eggs and the transport of the tadpoles towards the bodies of water are realized by the male.

Descripción

El iris es de color marrón oscuro.

Diagnosis

Phyllobates lugubris se diferencia de Phyllobates vittatus en ser más pequeño y presentar la raya dorsolateral más estrecha. Phyllobates lugubris se diferencia de Phyllobates aurotaenia por tener el vientre marmoleado. De P. bicolor y P. terribilis por ser de menor tamaño y presentar la piel del dorso granular.

Los machos adultos tienen una longitud hocico-cloaca de 21 mm y las hembras de 24 mm.

Historia natural

Es una especie de actividad diurna. Los machos cantan desde áreas con aguas lentas y cubierta de vegetación. El macho hace el llamado a la hembra para realizar el cortejo. El cuidado de los huevos y el transporte de los renacuajos hacia los cuerpos de agua son realizados por el macho.

Lebensweise
